A Message From Your Principal

AMS Families:
4/3/2020

Welcome back from Spring Break.  I hope this finds you well and that you were able to enjoy some time with your student.  Although the break looked different this year, I hope you and your family were able to find moments of peace and connection.

In the last few days your student’s advisory teacher has reached out with personal phone calls.  Going forward you will be hearing from them every week.  Connection with a parent/guardian is an important part of remote learning.  Our AMS team wants to make sure you and your student have access to all the resources you need during this challenging time. Outside of their weekly calls, teachers will have scheduled times they are available to answer questions you may have.  These times are listed on the weekly lesson document posted on the district web page and on the cover sheet of paper pencil packets. They are always available for contact via their district email. Please let me know if you have not heard from advisory teachers this week by email at lbrech@astoria.k12.or.us.

Additionally, if your student has access to their student email encourage them to keep an eye out for communication as teachers will be sending them instruction using email and google classroom.  Teachers are missing your student and looking forward to engaging with them.  Deliveries for students requesting paper copies of work will begin April 6.  These copies will be delivered to your door weekly on Monday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.  If you have requested paper packets and did not receive them by Monday, April 6 at 2p.m. or if you find that you would like them delivered to your student please email Heather Hummell-Martin at hhummell@astoria.k12.or.us

Mrs. Hankwitz is answering Astoria Middle School phones from home Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.  She is available to help regarding student information, parentVue, studentVue, student google and email access or answer any other questions you may have.

Meals will continue to be delivered to routed bus stops daily, three hours after the regular morning pick up time.  Any child at the bus stop at the time of meal drop off will receive food.  Routes are posted on the Astoria School District website or by visiting the link below:

Please continue to check your email as this process is evolving and information is shared as it is received by the district. Resources and important communication are continually updated on the district website.  You can find the district webpage by visiting http://www.astoria.k12.or.us/

As always, I am here for you.  Please be safe and take care of you and yours.

Familias AMS:                                                                                                                                           4/3/2020

http://www.astoria.k12.or.us/UserFiles/Servers/Server_173011/File/Website/19- 20% 20Uploads / ASD% 20Food% 20Delivery% 20Routes% 20rev.3.20.20.pdf
